Shining History: The College of Agriculture at Jobner was established by late Rawal Narendra Singhji in July 1947 and it was the first institute for agriculture education in Rajasthan. In the memory of the founder and his father, the college was named as SKN (Shri Karan Narendra) College of Agriculture. The College is committed to achieve excellence in education, research and extension in Agriculture and enjoys the pride of being work place of luminaries like Dr. R.S. Paroda, Dr. Prem Nath, Dr. K.K.S. Chohan, Dr. A.S. Faroda, Dr. B.P. Srivastava, Dr. S.S. Acharya, Dr. R. Prasad, Dr. P.N. Jha, Dr. H. G. Singh, Dr. C. Prasad, Dr. A.M. Michael, Dr. T.C. Jain and Dr. C.P.S. Yadava.

Every Year Independence Day, Republic Day and Cultural Programs are celebrated in the college with Joy and Enthusiasm.

Ideal Location with ample facilities: The College campus is located in rural setting at a distance of 45 Km by road from Jaipur. It is a constituent college of Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner. The college is provided with Post Office, ICICI Bank, Canteen, Telephone exchange, Veterinary Clinic, Indane Gas Agency, a Secondary School and 63 quarters for teaching staff and Guest House. The college campus is fully Wi-Fi enabled.

Practical oriented Agricultural Education:

The college imparts training in basic as well as scientific skills with a view to prepare the students for a career concerned with the upliftment of rural people. The college is currently pursuing the following academic programmes as per ICAR guidelines:

B.Sc. (Hons) Ag. Eight semester programme including RAWE in VIII semester with intake capacity of 100 students including ICAR seats(15%) and 20 paid seats. Minimum residential requirement is 8 semesters and maximum permissible period is 14 semesters. Total credit requirement is 165 (86+79). The minimum grade point for passing a course is 4.00 out of 10.00 and for the degree 5.00 out of 10.00.

M.Sc. (Ag.) is four semester programme with intake capacity of 59 students including ICAR seats (25%). Credit requirement is 27 in major, 15 in minors, 1 for seminar, 2 for comprehensive and 15 for thesis (total 60 credits). A student is awarded honour class in M. Sc. (Ag) on securing an OGPA of 7.50 out of 10.00 or above.

Ph.D. The College is pursuing Ph.D. programme with intake capacity of 16 students. Credit requirement is 12 in major, 12 in minor, 2 for seminars, 4 for comprehensive and 40 for thesis (total 70 credits).

In the service of farmers:

The college is provided with an extension wing attached to the Department of Extension Education. The wing serves as an extension laboratory for students and functions in selected villages with the main objective to orient the students regarding the needs and problems of the farming community. The findings of research are carried to the farmers' field for adoption and also for testing the feasibility. There is a farmers' hostel to provide residential facility to the farmers, rural youths, farm women and extension workers during training programmes. Every year several trainings are conducted for farmers

Infrastructure:

The college campus is well spread having a lush green lawn and characterized by traditional high ceiling buildings creating monumental spaces with minimal décor. The serene ambiance has inspired students to strive for excellence. The college is well equipped with students’ friendly infrastructure.

Students Hostels:

The College is fully residential having six hostels namely;  Bhabha (102), Pall (78), Raman (101),  Aurbindo / PG (88), Girls hostel (75) and new Girls Hostel (84) having total intake capacity of 574, each provided with  common room, television, water cooler, mess, indoor games and internet Wi-Fi facility.

Administrative & Departments building:

The administrative building is an impressive building which houses offices of the Dean, Assistant Registrar, Finance, Establishment and Student Sections, Chief hostel warden and Placement cell. There are 14 departments viz., Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry, Plant Pathology, Agronomy, Entomology, Horticulture, Extension Education, Plant Breeding & Genetics, Agricultural Economics, Ag. Engineering, Biochemistry, Statistics, Mathematics & Computer Science, Nematology, Livestock Production & Management and Plant Physiology with sufficient class rooms and laboratories.

Library:

The library is organized on modern lines with open shelf system having 46424 books and subscribes to 16 magazines, 104 journals including 13 foreign journals. Xerox facility, Micro documents, CDROM database, AGRIS, AGRICOLA, CABCD, e-journal facilities are available in library. An Internet center equipped with computers, server, UPS, air conditioner and one ISDN line connection is also available.

Central Laboratory 

One fully air conditioned central laboratory equipped with HPLC, GC, Deep freezer, Gel documentation system, DNA/Protein electrophoresis, Spectrophotometer, Centrifuges, Thermal cycler for PCR and Tissue culture facility is available for students and faculty for their research work.

Computer Laboratory:

Computer facilities exist at the campus in most of the PG departments for the benefit of students and staff. In addition, well developed computer lab with internet facility is also available for imparting training to students in the department of Statistics, Mathematics and Computer Science.

Games & Sports Facilities:

The college has a stadium with Cinder track for athletics and an indoor stadium for badminton and table tennis having multi-gym facility. Cement paved and night lit basketball, volleyball and tennis courts are special attractions of the college. The college has well developed football, hockey and cricket grounds.

Instructional and Research Farms:

The college has two well developed research farms (200 ha) for agriculture, horticulture and livestock production and practical training to students and research programmes. Instructional-cum-research farm for horticulture also has fruit plantation of Ber, Aonla, Pomegranate etc. The dairy farm includes a herd of cross red cows (Jersey and Holestein) and Tharparkar cattle, sheep and cross bred goats (Toggenburg and Saanen). A flock of 1000 white leghorn birds and Kadaknath (CARY SHYAMA) are maintained in poultry farm.

NCC, NSS and NSO

Every student takes part in one of the three activities- NCC, NSS and NSO streams for two academic sessions and pass it satisfactorily as a requirement for undergraduate degree programme. NCC programme of the college has been performing excellent since its establishment in 1957 and has been champion several times among Rajasthan battalions since 1988 with 107 cadets currently. A number of camps and services on different subjects, rallies and plantations by the students are carried under NSS regularly.

Young Farmers' Association

All students automatically become members of the Young Farmers' Association-the students union at the college level. Objectives of the association are to encourage activities pertaining to farming and rural life and to instill among the members consciousness regarding the problems of farming and rural population.
