Identity of the department, aims and objectives:

College of Agriculture, Navgaon, Alwar was established in the year 2018 as one of the  constituent college of Sri Karan Narendra Agriculture University, Jobner vide Order No. F.4(26) Ag.3/2018 dated: 10.01.2018. The college is located at a distance of 35 Km. from district headquarter Alwar on Delhi –Alwar State highway.

Presently the College is sharing a portion of premises with Agricultural Research Station, Navgaon. The College campus is divided into two parts, academic block (5.0 ha.) situated at Navgaon and instructional farm (30 ha.) is situated at village Manaki, The distance between both of the block is 10 Km.

The college has annual intake of 64 students including 20 seats on payment basis. Currently the college has 242 students.

Aims and objectives:

1.       Provide value-based quality education to the students and make them aware with reference to high-tech and modern agriculture

2.       Equip the graduates with current trends and necessities of agriculture industry 

3.     Enabling them to help and guide the farmers through involving themselves in achieving cost and quality competitiveness of agricultural produce 

4.       Develop a gestalt perspective of the agri-business sector, its dynamics, complexities, challenges and opportunities in the emerging global context 

5.       Developing towards learning right attitudes and interests and absorbing essential and advanced skills of technology and management

Courses running in the department

The college has an Intake Capacity of 64 students out of which 44 seats are general and 20 seats are paid.  Presently 242 students are enrolled in B.Sc.(Hons.) Agri. Part I, Part II, Part III and Part IV. 

Facilities or infrastructure

Class Rooms:

Four class rooms are available in the college with seating capacity of 64 students in each class room. Out of which, one well equipped smart class rooms with interactive panel is available in the college. The teaching is done with the aid of latest ICT technologies to enable interactive and participatory learning by the students. Classrooms are CCTV enabled, well-furnished and duly ventilated.

College Library:

Library cater the knowledge needs of members of CoA, Navgoan up to their satisfaction level. Library posses a good collection both in print and e format. It has 2368 books in print, of all subjects for undergraduate degree program in Agriculture. Users can access full text e-books and e- journals 24×7. Library is laden with the various kinds of books to fulfill the requirements of students, and teaching staff of the college and ARS.  A number of books related to competitive examinations in various fields in agriculture, ICAR, IARI and agricultural universities etc. are available in the library. The users of Library are updated with information via library services viz . Circulation, photocopying , SDI and current awareness services.

The library is working on hybrid mode and partially automated via KOHA software with OPAC facility. The library members are served with latest information round the clock .It is well equipped with various facilities viz. internet facilities, books, newspapers, magazines, and bulletins.

 NSS:

• National Service Scheme (NSS) was started at the time of establishment of the college. National Service Scheme provides the students an opportunity to understand the community; identify its needs and problems as well as the solutions by their participation in social and public responsibilities which ultimately perform national integration and social harmony.

NSO:

National Sports Organization is going on at the college level and students actively take participation in various sports activities like volleyball, kabbadi, badminton etc. which encourage the habit of performing in preparation of team and also make the body fit. NSO is an integral part of course curriculum at college level as per the fifth Dean’s recommendations.

Achievements:

• College awarded “Best emerging college” in inter-collegiate sports and cultural tournaments at SKNAU, Jobner in 2018.
• 16 students awarded with best performance in inter-collegiate sports and cultural tournaments at SKNAU, Jobner in 2018.
• Rinku  Devi Student of Part-III Sem-I, COA, Navgaon  got  a Tvs Scooty under Devnarayan Yojna on 23.12.2022
• Sh.Vinod Kumar Sharma student of B.Sc. (Hons.) Ag. Part IV participated in Agri Sports Meet 2022-23 at CCSHAU, Hissar.
• Sh.Dwarka Prasad Saini student of B.Sc. (Hons.) Ag. Part IV participated in Agri Youth 2022-23 at GKVK, Bangalore.
• Sh. Arun Meghwal student has been selected for admission in master degree in agronomy through ICAR JRF at SDAU, Sardarkrushinagar, Gujarat in 2022-23
• Sh. Sandeep Patidar student has been selected for admission in master degree in Entomology through state entrance at RAK AC, Sehore, RVSKV, Gwalior in 2022-23
• The foundation stone of the administrative building of the college was laid by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Balraj Singh and Sh. Tikaram Juli, Cabinet Minister, Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of Rajasthan. Sh. Bhanwar Jitendra Singh and, Zuber Khan, Chairman, Mewat Development Board on 4^th Feb.2023.
