About KVK, Gonera-Kotputli

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Gonera-Kotputli was established at Kotputli Tehsil of Jaipur district on 28 March 2012 by ICAR. Before this KVK was started in 13 January 1989 under Rajasthan Agricultural University with 76.06 ha land. But due to government policy i.e. one KVK in one District, this KVK was closed in 2004.

Apart from conducting demonstrations on various improved practices, KVK also involve in FLD, OFT, training of school dropout extension functionaries, farm women and rural youth on different subject like horticulture, agronomy, home science, animal husbandry and other enterprise. District Jaipur –II comes under semi arid Eastern plain, soil are sandy to sandy loam and normal rainfall 541 mm. Which directly affect on the agricultural production as well as cropping pattern of the areas. The Krishi Vigyan Kendra operated in seven tehsils (Kotputli, Paota, Shahpura, Viratnagar, Amer, Bassi and Jamuwaramgarh ) of Jaipur district.

Mandates & Activities

Mandate: The mandate of KVK is technology assessment and demonstration for its application and capacity development.

Activities

  • On-farm testing to assess the location specificity of agriculture technological under various farming systems.
  • Frontline demonstrations to establish production potential of technologies on the famer’s field.
  • Capacity development of farmers and extension personnel to update their knowledge and skills on modern agricultural technologies.
  • To work as knowledge and resources centre of agricultural technologies for supporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sector on improving the agricultural economy of the district.
  • Provide farm advisories using ICT and other media means on varied subjects of interest to farmers.

Thrust Areas

  • To increases and sustain the productivity of different crops by seed treatment for controlling pests and diseases, plant protection measures and fertilizer, water and weed management through farmers training programmes.
  • Popularization of improved and hybrid varieties of vegetables their package of practices, establishment of new and management of old orchards and Hi-tech horticulture.
  • To increases milk production by management and feeding of milch animals, selection of improved breed and providing good hygienic conditions to the farm animals .
  • Nutrition management of farm families by establishing kitchen garden and by creating awareness about food preservation techniques.
  • To organize skill oriented training on diversification in agriculture and food processing.
  • Farmer’s capacity building and women empowerment by formation of FIG and SHG. Entrepreneurship development in agriculture and allied discipline.
