Introduction

College of Agriculture Kumher, was established on 24th April, 2013 vide order no. F. 4(18) Agriculture-3/2013 Govt. of Rajasthan, under Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University (SKRAU) Bikaner. Presently COA Kumher is a constituent College of Sri Karan Narendra Agriculture University (SKNAU) Jobner, established with the mandate to impart quality education for graduates in the discipline of Agriculture. Both B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture degree programme and College of Agriculture Kumher has been Accredited by ICAR-Agricultural Education Division. As per mandate of our university, all the three components i.e., teaching, research and extension units are working at the same campus, it makes this college unique in whole of the state. COA Kumher is situated in the agro-climatic Zone III-B (Flood prone eastern plain zone) of Rajasthan. The College is located adjacent to Maharaja Surajmal Brij University, thus make and ambient holistic surroundings for quality learning. The College has state of art academic and administrative building with well-furnished smart class rooms, fully fledged library and laboratory facilities.

Dr. Ram Kishor Meena, Professor and Dean, College of Agriculture, Kumher, Bharatpur, SKN Agriculture University, Jobner. Dr. Meena completed his B. Sc. (Hons.) Ag. From SKN College of Agriculture, Jobner. He completed his M.Sc. Entomology and Ph. D. Entomology from prestigious Institute IARI, New Delhi. Dr. Meena got Junior Research Fellowship, IARI, PUSA, New Delhi in M. Sc. Entomology and Senior Research Fellowship IARI, PUSA, New Delhi in Ph.D. Entomology.
He started his professional career as Assistant Professor (Entomology) at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dholpur, Rajasthan in 2005 and rose to the level of Professor in 2020. Dr. Meena worked in various capacities as Scientist/ Assistant Professor at AICRP, Rapeseed Mustard, ARS, Navgaon; ARS, Fatehpur; at KVK Dholpur and COA, Lalsot. Dr. Meena has also served as Programmme Coordinator, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dholpur; University Head at SKNCOA, Jobner before elevating to Dean, College of Agriculture, Bharatpur, Kumher, (Deeg).
Dr. Meena is mainly working on Integrated Pest Management and having experience of 20 years in teaching, research and extension and Guiding students of B.Sc. (Hons.), M. Sc., Ph. D. in the field of Agriculture. He has publication of research papers- 35, Short communications -5, Abstracts -11, Book chapters- 3, Practical/ Training Manual/ Monographs-6, Extension Bulletin-7, Compendium-10, Popular Articles-12, Folder -20, Success Stories-5, Synopsis- 14, Reports: 50, Organizing workshops/seminars/symposia/ Webinars/ conferences/ Brainstorming Session-3, speaker in scientific meeting (National)-4, Submission of Project Proposals-5, Preparation of Suggestive plan and report-1, Monitoring and studies Inspection – 3, Inspection of seed production- 2 , Participation in refresher course/ orientation programme / summer/ winter schools/ Seminar/ Symposia: 21, Participation in Trainings /Workshop/courses/ other programmes - 90 and Master Trainer, Convenor, member, Incharge, Coordinator of Dozens of Committees with assignments of Agriculture Research, Teaching, Extension field. Worked in All India Coordinated Research Project on Rapeseed Mustard- 4 years.
Dr. Meena has guided 10 PG students. He has authored many books and published 35 research papers in different national and international journals. He received many National awards and honours as: 1) Life Fellow of Entomological Society of India by Entomological Society of India, Division of Entomology, IARI, New Delhi, 2016. 2) Best Poster Award (NBC 2017) by Society for Rapeseed-Mustard Research (SRMR), DRMR, Bharatpur and IARI, New Delhi 2017. 3) Best Poster Award (ISOB 2017) by State Institute of Agriculture Management, Jaipur and ICAR-Directorate of Rapeseed-Mustard Research, Bharatpur 2017. 4) Best Oral Presentation Award by Society for Rapeseed-Mustard Research (SRMR), DRMR, Bharatpur and CSAUA&T, Kanpur 2019. 5) Certificate of Appreciation as Lead Speaker by Society for Rapeseed-Mustard Research (SRMR), DRMR, Bharatpur and CSAUA&T, Kanpur 2019. Admission & Intake

Admission to the B.Sc. (Hons) Ag programme is done through the JET examination. The minimum eligibility is that the candidate must have passed 12th of the 10+2 (Academic) scheme with Agriculture/Biology/Mathematics group. A candidate must have secured at least 50% marks, with a relaxation of 5% for SC/ST/OBC/SBC categories. The maximum age limit is 25 years, and the candidate must be a bonafide resident of Rajasthan.

Intake Capacity: The college has an intake capacity of 120 students.

Facilities & Infrastructure

  • Class Rooms: The College has 4 smart Class rooms which are spacious, ventilated and well-furnished.
  • Laboratories: The college has a total of 11 fully equipped laboratories for different subjects for practical instruction of the students.
  • Auditorium: The college has an Auditorium cum Examination Hall with a seating capacity of 200+ students.
  • Land & Landscaping: The College premises covers a total of 30 ha land, utilized for seed production, crop cafeterias, and scientific research.
  • Girls Hostel: The college has one girls' hostel to provide a convenient and comfortable stay for female students, with furnished rooms, a common room, and mess facility.
  • Library: The college has a well-furnished library constituting a myriad collection of books on different subjects. At present 5290 books are available.
