Mustard pathologist/Seed pathologist

Dr Shailesh Godika joined as assistant professor on 16 November, 1996 at ARS, Navgaon in AICRP (R&M) as Mustard Pathologist. He was associated with the project for 15 years and became Professor in November, 2011. Presently he is working as University head, Department of Plant Pathology, at SKN College of Agriculture, SKNAU, Jobner and actively engaged in teaching & research.
Associated in developing 15 technologies included in POP of zone III b & Zone IIIa of Rajasthan and 05 at National level in Mustard crop. Developed first IPM module of Mustard in Rajasthan for Zone IIIb. He was associated as Co-PI in five SKRAU-NCIPM collaborative projects and PI in a RKVY funded project. He was also associated in development of mustard varieties viz, Navgold (YRN-6) at national level and RRN-505 and RRN-573 at state level out of which RRN-505 was tolerant against Sclerotinia rot disease.
He worked on management aspects of R & M diseases and specifically against Sclerotinia rot disease of mustard. For management of Sclerotinia rot disease use of Trichoderma as seed and soil treatment was recommended for the zone. He also developed screening technique against Sclerotinia rot and screened number of mustard varieties against the disease. He guided 11 M.Sc. students and 3 Ph.D. students. One of PG student Mr. Jitendra Sharma was awarded for best M.Sc. thesis research work on Sclerotinia rot disease of mustard by SRMR Sewar, Bharatpur. Dr Godika also honored as fellow of SRMR, Sewar, Bharatpur in 2017. Miss Astha Sharma, student of Dr. Shailesh Godika (Major Advisor), received best M. Sc. (Ag.) thesis award by SRMR, Sewar, Bharatpur, in 5th NBC held during 07-09, Feb, 2024 at RARI, Durgapura, Jaipur for best Research work. He is elected as Zonal Councilor (West zone) of the Society for Rapeseed-Mustard Research, Sewar, Bharatpur for the duration 2011-19.
He is Life member of many reputed societies viz., Society of Mycology & Plant Pathology, Udaipur, Society for R&M Research, DRMR, Sewar, Bharatpur, Society of Indian Journal of Arid Horticulture, Bikaner, Asian PGPR Society of Sustainable Agriculture, USA. He has been awarded in several conferences for poster and oral presentation. He has attended many winter/ summer trainings and also participated in 17 conferences / seminars and 18 AICRP-R&M workshops across the country. Published 64 research papers in national and international repute journals out of which 25 research papers are on mustard diseases. He has published two text book of plant pathology in hindi language and two books in English. He also published 13 book chapters, review articles and 14technical bulletins, 39 popular articles. He has published 5 laboratory manuals for UG students as per syllabus of Vth dean committee. Dr. Shailesh Godika awarded gold medal for excellence in Rapeseed Mustard research, by SRMR, DRMR, Sewar, Bharatpur, in 5th NBC held during 07-09, Feb, 2024 at RARI, Durgapura, Jaipur.
Presently he is having responsibilities of University head, Department of Plant Pathology, SKNCOA, Jobner, and convener of various committees at university level, working as university placement officer since 2013. He also served as secretary staff club, SKN COA, Jobner and treasurer SKN alumni association Jobner till 2023. He also worked as Dean COA, Navgaon, Alwar for one year.
