Soil Arthropod Pests (White grub, Termite)

Dr. B. L. Jakhar is a Distinguished University Professor of Entomology and Network Coordinator of the All India Network Project on Soil Arthropod Pests at the Rajasthan Agricultural Research Institute (RARI), Durgapura, Jaipur. He obtained his B.Sc. (Honours) in Agriculture (1999), M.Sc. (Ag.) in Entomology (2001), and Ph.D. in Entomology (2005) from Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner.
Dr. Jakhar served as an Assistant Research Scientist at Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University, S.K. Nagar, Gujarat, from 2008 to 2018. He subsequently worked as an Associate Professor in the Division of Entomology, Rajasthan Agricultural Research Institute, Durgapura, Jaipur, from 2018 to 2024. He also served as Officer In-Charge of the Agricultural Research Sub-Station (ARSS), Gonera Kotputli, from February 2024 to September 2024. Thereafter, he worked as Professor at the College of Agriculture, Bhuasawar, Bharatpur, from September 2024 to June 2025. Since June 2025, he has been serving as Network Coordinator of the All India Network Project on Soil Arthropod Pests at RARI, Durgapura, Jaipur.
Prof. Jakhar has made outstanding research contributions in the field of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in pulses and the eco-friendly management of soil arthropod pests. He has successfully handled and completed 12 in-house research projects and 03 externally funded projects as Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI, and Nodal Officer.
He has delivered 13 invited lectures in trainings, refresher courses, and conferences; delivered 02 TV/Radio talks; organized 01 workshop for scientists and teachers; participated in 14 national and international conferences, symposia, webinars, seminars, and workshops; and attended 05 summer/winter schools and short-term training programmes.
Dr. Jakhar has published 61 research papers, 03 review papers, 02 proceedings/lead papers, 05 technical bulletins/training manuals, 05 extension folders, 05 book chapters, 01 book, 27 popular articles, and 21 abstracts.
As a distinguished academician, he teaches advanced courses in Entomology to Ph.D. (Entomology), M.Sc. (Ag.) Entomology, and B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students. He is currently guiding 06 Ph.D. (Entomology) and 02 M.Sc. (Ag.) Entomology students.
He is a life member of 05 scientific/professional societies, a reviewer for 04 journals, and an editor of 02 journals. Prof. Jakhar was awarded the University Gold Medal in 2001 during his M.Sc. degree programme and has received several Appreciation Awards from different scientific societies.
