Economic Entomology and IPM

Dr. Akhter Hussain is working as Professor & Head, Department of Entomology at SKN College of Agriculture, Sri Karan Narendra Agriculture University, Jobner (Jaipur), Rajasthan. He joined SK Rajasthan Agricultural University (SKRAU) in July, 2005 as Assistant Professor (Entomology) at KVK, Fatehpur-Shekhawati (Sikar) and worked on insect pest management, validates & disseminates the newer technologies to the farmers and served up to August, 2013. Dr. Akhter did his B.Sc. (Ag.) Hons. in 1993 and M. Sc. (Ag.) in 1996 from S.K.N. College of Agriculture, Jobner, SKRAU, Bikaner (Rajasthan) with University Gold Medal in M.Sc.(Ag.) Entomology and Ph.D. from Rajasthan College of Agriculture, MPUAT, Udaipur (Rajasthan) with university topper. Published 74 research papers in scientific journals of national and international repute, four book chapters, 40 popular articles in the magazines, nine bulletin/ compendium and five practical manual for UG courses. Participated in many symposia/ workshops/ conferences at state, national and international level. Involved in teaching B.Sc. (Ag), M.Sc. (Ag) and Ph.D. courses from last 12 years and Guided 11 M.Sc. (Ag.) Entomology and five Ph.D. (Entomology) students. Life member and member of various scientific and academic societies of India. Besides these, Certificate of Merit to presentation of research paper in “National Symposium on Soil Arthropods and their Management” held at ARS, Durgapura, Jaipur from September 27–28, 2001. Best poster award to presentation of research paper in “National Conference on Plant Protection through Eco- friendly Techniques and Traditional Farming Practices” held at ARS, Durgapura, Jaipur from February 18–22, 2010.
