Horticulture: Fruit Science

Dr. Rakesh Kumar Jat is currently working as Associate Professor (Horticulture) at the College of Agriculture, Navgaon, Alwar, Rajasthan from August, 2023. He was born on 05th December, 1985 at Ladipura a village of Jaipur district of Rajasthan. He has completed his B.Sc. (Ag.) Hons. from Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner (Rajasthan), M.Sc. Fruit Science (Hort.) from Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari (Gujarat) and completed Ph.D. in Fruit Science (Hort.) from Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University, Sardarkrushinagar, (Gujarat). He has started his carrier as Assistant Professor (Pomology) at Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University, Sardarkrushinagar, Gujarat from 2012.
During his service at Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University, Sardarkrushinagar, he has worked as Assistant Professor at College of Horticulture, Jagudan, Mehsana, Gujarat from August, 2012 to July, 2023. Dr. Jat has guided 05 M.Sc. (Hort.) students as major advisor as well as 08 M.Sc. (Hort.) and 03 Ph.D. (Hort.) students as member of advisory committee and also handled several research projects as Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator during his service as Assistant Professor at SDAU, Sardarkrushinagar, Gujarat.
Dr. Rakesh Kumar Jat has a vast experience in the field of horticulture sciences. He has involved in teaching, research, extension and training activities of the university during his service at SDAU, Sardarkrushinagar. He has delivered various lectures in the training and Krushi Mahotsav programmes organised by University and Agriculture Department for the farming community. He has published several research papers in reputed national and international journals, edited book, book chapters and popular articles and also contributed to several recommendations for farming community and nurserymen. He also prepared study material as practical manual for B. Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture students. Presently he is life time membership of Indian Society for Arid Horticulture, Bikaner, (Rajasthan), life time membership of Society for Horticultural Research and Development (SHRD), Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh and life time membership of Indian Date Palm Society, Mundra, Kachchh, Gujarat.
