Biography
Dr. Kailash Chandra is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding at SKN College of Agriculture, Sri Karan Narendra Agriculture University (SKNAU), Jobner, Jaipur, Rajasthan. He completed his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, Karnataka, and his Master’s degree from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka. He was awarded his Ph.D. degree by Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
Academically, he has demonstrated outstanding merit by qualifying several prestigious national-level examinations, including ICAR-NTS, ICAR-JRF, ICAR-SRF, ICAR-NET, and CSIR–UGC NET and JRF (Life Sciences).
His primary areas of research include pulse breeding, barley breeding, biotic stress resistance, and molecular breeding. At present, he is actively involved in research on seed spices such as fennel, fenugreek, cumin, coriander, and minor seed spices under the AICRP on Spices at Jobner since 2025.
He has made significant contributions to agricultural research, having published more than 30 research papers in reputed national and international journals. He has also authored a book on Molecular Breeding, published by Apple Academic Press, a globally reputed publisher. In addition, he has contributed book chapters to leading international publishers such as Elsevier, Springer, Nova, IntechOpen, and CRC Press.
He is a Life Member of several professional scientific societies, including the Indian Society of Genetics and Plant Breeding (ISGPB), the Indian Society of Plant Breeders (ISPB), the Indian Society of Plant Genetic Resources (ISPGR), and the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA). In recognition of his research contributions, he has been honoured with the Young Scientist Award by ATDS, Uttar Pradesh, India. He continues to contribute actively to teaching, research, and institutional development in the field of plant breeding.
